How to win at Craps?

To win at Craps, you count the points you score. To do so, you consider :

  • Either the total points of the two dice
  • Either the special tricks (such as Craps, 11 or Hards Ways…)

The sum of the faces of the dice that make 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 and 10 are called “points”.

  • Craps (“waste”): refers to a total that can only be obtained in one way: (2 = 1+1), (3 = 1+2), (12 = 6+6)
  • Hard Ways are doubles (2+2), (3+3), (4+4), (5+5) except doubles 1 and 6 which are Craps.
  • The 11 (Pass) can only be obtained in one way: 6+5 = 5+6
  • The 7 (Natural) is the total that can be obtained the most times in different ways: (4+3), (2+5), (1+6) but also (3+4), (5+2) and (6+1), that is one chance out of six in total.

How do I play Craps?

The player begins a game with a roll of the dice. Initially, the point is said to be “off”, meaning that the player can only win with a 7 or 11 and a 2, 3 or 12 will cause you to lose. A 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10 will place the point on the corresponding number. It will be necessary to redo this number with a 7 to win.

The player will stop only once he has got a 7 which is ahead of his point. Be careful because if the point is “on”, he will be able to bet on other numbers such as 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10. However, the bet will be removed only if the shooter rolls a 7 when the point is “on” (also called Seven Out). If the point is off and the shooter rolls a 7, he does not lose the bet on the numbers.
